Hi! My name is Nathan van der Most and I am currently traveling and living abroad! I enjoy traveling, learning new languages, meeting new people, experiencing new cultures and sharing those experiences with others!
I started this blog to write about my adventures working and traveling abroad and I have been at it since February 2014. Whoa… time flies…
In November of 2013, I was living and working in Anchorage, AK, USA and I got bored with the same routine and needed a life change. I decided to quit my job and move back home to Seattle, WA with no further life plans at that point.
I had always wanted to try teaching English, so I registered for a TEFL (Teach English as a Foreign Language) course hosted at a local community college.
After completing the course and living at home for two months, I decided that I wanted to live abroad, so I bought a one-way ticket to Europe and then to Bangkok, Thailand. I traveled the country for about 6 weeks, living off of savings and searching for teaching jobs.
I got very fortunate and found a job teaching English at Dara Academy in Chiang Mai, Thailand. I ended up living for one-year teaching English to high school students.
After that year, I decided that I wanted to continue teaching but I wanted to try living in a different county so I traveled to Vietnam and traversed the country for one month traveling overland by bus and train from Ho Chi Minh to Hanoi.
I found a job teaching in Hanoi and have been based there since May 2015. Over that time, in addition to teaching, I started getting into freelancing and offering digital marketing services with clients based all over the world (U.S, New Zealand, Australia, and Europe).
During that time, my ultimate goal was to find a way to live abroad and move freely as long as I had an internet connection. You can learn more about my services at Optin Digital.
I like to share my stories with the world by utilizing photos and video as a catalyst to tell my story. As a great mentor once told me, in order to enjoy life, you need to follow your passions and, “GET AFTER IT!”
So what are you waiting for?
